Spokeo is HORRIBLE. Shame on BBB for giving them a grade A when clearly the public is not happy. Just because they respond to their complaints with useless info doesn't make them deserving of a grade A. Shame on Spokeo for invading everyone's privacy and being a nuisance and danger to public safety with disregard to stalking laws, etc. Shame on ANYONE who has paid to use their services - get a life - and if you have a real reason to run a background check then get their permission to do so and use a reputable sources. Their Privacy Policy is BS. Several times I have removed the same listings over and over again. They require you to use new email addresses due to "anti-abuse" and then relist you under the new provided info or hope that you get discouraged from all the hassles and leave your info. They say they derive from the following: 1. Phone Books (I PAY EVERY MONTH TO NOT BE LISTED) 2. Social Networks (I HAVE NEVER PUBLISHED NOR PROVIDED ANY SOCIAL NETWORKS WITH MY CONTACT INFO) 3. Real Estate Records (THERE ARE NONE IN EXISTENCE FOR ME) 4. Marketing Surveys (I HAVE NEVER PARTICIPATED IN A MARKETING SURVEY - EVER) 5. Online Maps and Street Views (I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY ONLINE MAPS THAT SHOWCASE PERSONAL DETAILS - EXCEPT FOR SPOKEO TO DATE - BUT I HAVE NEVER PROVIDED MY CONTACT INFO TO ANYTHING OF THE SORT)
So where exactly does Spokeo get the contact info and how much do they pay for it?
Keep complaining, keep taking them to court, keep opting out, contact your state/federal officials, California Office of Privacy Protection, etc.
Hello anyone who is currently being stalked - how do you feel about your info being published on Spokeo and other broker sites now popping up thanks to this useless company? I can't even find a forwarding address at a post office due to stalking laws, but I can get it on Spokeo.

Dear Crystal, I apologize for any inconvenience. Spokeo aggregates publicly accessible data from a multitude of online and offline sources which includes social networks, public records, phone listings, marketing surveys and more. All data collected by Spokeo is publicly accessible and originates from the sources themselves. Spokeo understands your privacy concerns, and as such, provides a convenient way to remove your listings from public searches. In order to prevent spammers, bots and others from removing hundreds of listings at a time, all users are allowed to remove a limited number of listings each day per IP address. If you have multiple listings that you would like to be removed, you can go ahead and email each of the URL's to our Privacy Team through our contact page: www.Spokeo.com/contact. The Spokeo Privacy team will remove your listings as soon as possible. Just allow up to 24-hours for the change to be reflected on our site. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience.
