In 2014, my husband of 20 years filed for separation. He kicked me out of the business we owned during our marriage and drained our life insurance policy of all its cash value. With two children to support, I was left with nothing. I had a relative that worked with National Family Solutions and she quickly had me fill out their online questionnaire and assigned me to an attorney. Needless to say, my life became an avalanche of filings with the courts. This company assigned me to 3 different attorneys to help me because there were so many documents that had to be completed. From separation to divorce to subpoenaing many different financial institutions, and a large amount of exhibits, not to mention a permanent restraining order. My husband was also making false accusation against me so they did a Parent Evaluation. I'd never even heard of this before so there was a big learning curve. Unfortunately, my divorce hasn't ended yet but I also didn't spend more than a couple thousand dollars for all the paperwork that was done for me through this company. It probably would have cost me tens of thousands of dollars with a private attorney. A word of warning though. Divorces really test your patience. They are not easy and can turn your life upside-down. You gotta be prepared to do some leg work and follow instructions. If you can't do that and you have the money, hire a private attorney. I've experienced that end of things too. They both have their pros and cons so figure out what's doable for you and what fits your budget. Don't expect more that an attorney or a service offers. I had to learn that quick. All in all, I'm extremely grateful that I got help with NFS. More than anything, I want to thank the attorneys that helped me. The went above and beyond to make sure I had everything in time. They actually cared. It's nice to have people that have good hearts when you're going through a tough divorce.
