Check out what Steve Rhode, a well known credit industry blogger, has to say about the company - you'll find it very interesting:

Thank you, Bill and D, I am in big trouble as I have been with them since November and nothing has been done. I have to build reserves in order for them to settle on my lowest account. I have already put in 875.16. Apparently, they pay their own fees first and after wards they will start settling on my first lowest credit card. This is going to take FOREVER! I have 12,000.00 and by now with the added interest and finance charges it's going to be more than 12,000! I want to get out! Can I withdraw from them and get my money back? I was told I should have gotten with "New Era Debt".. Please help me..

There are some consolidation companies that charge their fees upfront. But there are a few of them who'll charge your fees only after they settle your account. I've heard of a couple of them who'd charge a percentage upon the amount that they'll be able to save on your debt amount. If they can save an amount worth 50% of your debt, then they'll charge a small percentage on this amount.

Hello Sonia,
Where you able to get a refund from Legal Helpers? They typically try to avoid giving refunds. I was wondering if you had some success with that. For anyone reading this, I would highly recommend looking at many other options before signing the contract with Legal Helpers. Legal Helpers has set up a program that is 100% not in the best financial interests of their clients in my opinion.

If anyone from Legal Helpers reads this and would like to have a discussion where they can attempt to defend their front loaded program, I would be more than happy to have that discussion. So far non of their hundreds of sales affiliates have been foolish enough to have this discussion in the open, but you never know.

I say, until one of them can show that charging consumers all of their fees before the debt is settled is in the clients best financial interest, stay far away, and please pass along the message to other consumers.

I've been through their website of late. I guess the OVLG are good at this. Their success rate seems good as you surf through the testimonials of numerous debt survivors at their website.

Mike, I looked into "OVLG" and there were some fees that had to be paid for attorneys..I rather keep away from the attorneys. "New Era" is helping me very much and NO FEES UP FRONT..and no attorneys. Whereas, "New Era" is a A+++ BBB. They charge 8% after 50% settlement. So far so good.

I'm not aware of New Era or their success with creditors. I have some friends who had settled their debts with OVLG quite successfully. OVLG has also been ranking good with the DebtCC community quite consistently. http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/ranking-chart/ That's why I have some confidence in their services. Remember, you should always go with a debt relief company who have a history of successful client handling. I'll not suggest you to go with a group who're successful but not so familiar. After all, there's no harm if you'd like to go for a free counseling session with the OVLG people.

Hi Mike, I did do dome research on OVLG and had a consultation with them and they had me signed up and all right there on the internet that very moment. They move fast in signing you up. I was given a representative and she couldn't talk to me and that was a "red flag". Furthermore, I found out there were some "legal fees" I had to pay upfront..I really don't want to get involve with anything to do with law firms after "Fast Track/Legal Helpers". I find it weird that OVLG wanted me to pay the attorney fees but would not help out if I was sued..??!! So I went with New Era Debt Solutions. They have been around since 1999 and have a A+ rating BBB. http://www.neweradebtsolutions.com/. Furthermore, I was referred by a friend that was with "New Era" and now has a FICA Score of 725. Thanks for the suggestion and I appreciate it.

Dear Sonia, I've seen that on a majority of occasions wherein you get sued, things actually get settled outside the court. Things get more complicated within the court. Though some of the settlement companies are representing you, they're actually drawing more money from you as the case lingers. They are causing more harm to your financial situation over time. OVLG has helped save a number of people outside the court and one good thing about them is their crystal clear process. See, the entire settlement process is a legal process and so you need to pay for the legal fees - which is small and it's actually meant to save more out of your debt amount. I agree that there are some settlement companies who're doing good for specific debt types. They may offer a good customer service, but in the end it's about a successful solution. I guess, it's good to work with a law firm who're experienced. OVLG people seems to be experienced in handling multiple debt types. This ensures a better control and allows you to meet your current obligations smoothly. Now, about the representation - if you're not fully satisfied while talking to someone over the phone, you may always ask for the supervisor/manager. Get your doubts clarified before you get enrolled for a program, this way you won't have to quit it midway.
